So we have a quick chance to start putting things right and effect a turn around. We face Ipswich who sit in ninth in the league after three wins (against Derby, Preston and Barnsley), two draws (against Norwich and Wolves) and two defeats (against Reading and Brentford). They're a Mick McCarthy side so we know the score. They're resolute and difficult to beat. Kind of like the opposite of us.

Can we finally start to impress in this division? Can we get a win? Or will we throw it away a-sodding-gain?

I think we'll win .... because I think we won't win .... it's sod's law if that makes any sense. I'm beginning to think we've employed a wet lettuce instead of a manager, and I don't know where this floppy approach to football matches is going to end up.

If we win it will be probably be more luck than judgement, but hey ho I've changed my mind and I'm going for a draw.

I've predicted us to lose, because I've predicted us to win every other game this season.

That's similar to my own muddled view of our prospects! Ipswich Town V Aston Villa: Saturday 17th September 15:00 3640643743

I'm not sure even Indecisive Dave would know what to expect on Saturday. Same as usual or will the players be shocked into finally clicking?

On a more serious note, it seems that McCormack, De Laet and Grealish are all doubts. Plus probably "Sicknote" Tshibola who I suppose will still be out. We're never lucky with injuries...

Injuries may actually lead to us playing a slightly better balanced team. The reality will almost certainly be that Westwood once again inhabits the black hole that must disguise his performances, at least in RDM's eyes.

Quite possibly as the injuries will mean that at least two of our attackers will possibly miss out.

We will have a chance of a win today if we drop Westwood .... I don't think this will happen. I'm Mr Negative today! Ipswich Town V Aston Villa: Saturday 17th September 15:00 3640643743

We haven't dropped Westwood.

We're playing three at the back including Baker, with two wing backs.

Gestede must have picked up an injury.

Adomah has made the bench.

I've been following the match on radio WM. It sounds all very low key, without any threat at either end. Baker is off with what sounds like a muscle strain and has been replaced by Richards. Let's hope we're a bit more adventurous in the second half.

The consensus of opinion on other Villa fan forums is that we're sh*te and Westwood is f*ing sh*te!

We have to try something different now .... actually turn up for the second half .... how difficult can it be?

Well, we didn't play at all well did we. We tried so hard to give Ipswich all three points in the last ten minutes, they just weren't quite good enough to take advantage of our usual late match generosity.

Seriously though this was a pile of junk and it's unacceptable. One win in 9 competitive games this season. It's not likely to get any better with RDM in charge.
