I thought I'd start a continuous match day thread as we're only getting a few comments at the moment. We can add discussion on each new match as it comes round without opening yet another thread.

Right Millwall ..... We have to win this, and we need a performance. I expect us to play with the confidence that is lacking when we play better teams.

One change. Lansbury starts instead of Hourihane. Hogan on the bench.

0-0 half time. My comfortable win prediction is looking unlikely unless we come up with a plan. We must be the only team in the division that doesn't do tactics. It's obviously left up to the players on match day to do what ever they can to get a result.
We're trying the long ball to Snodgrass and losing possession, or the marauding run from Hutton (down the same flank) and losing possession.

Bruce makes even Warnock look like a rocket scientist in comparison. I expect a big effort second half, because the first 45 minutes according to the commentators was cr*p!

It sounds like we've been trying to protect one point since the match started, and hoping to grab the other two points from a set piece if possible. What a stunning lack of ambition against Millwall!

We need a goal. We have Hogan on the bench, so we replace Hutton with Elmohamady! Samba get's injured (surprise, surprise) so we have to use our last sub to bring on Elphick.

Where's our planning and ambition?

Millwall have no well known players, they're just a hard working team, who came with a plan and stuck to it. We were lucky not to lose.

Depressing!

Managed to find a stream of the game on Twitter. Very, very poor from us. Genuinely felt that Millwall were unfortunate to get only the one point.

I suppose one heartening thing is that Sam Johnstone was back to his early season form. Our best player no question.

Will Johnstone leave us in January do you think?

Here we go again, it's less than 24 hours to match day kick off!

Derby v Villa has a certain ring to it, and if we turn up with a bit of confidence it has the makings of a decent match.

Will we though? Do we have enough confidence in ourselves to take on a decent team?

We know that a Rowett team will work their collective butts off to get in our faces. They'll be fit and committed and it will take a similar level of commitment from Villa to get anything out of this game.

I think a draw is the best we can hope for based on our recent level of performance.

What do you reckon guys?

Jedinak is back fit, maybe we can expect him to fill in at Centre Half.

Not expecting much in this one for some reason.

Bruce said we missed our big men against Millwall, so I think you're right. Jedinak at CB.

I would prefer Jedinak at CB then Elphick, every time he is on the pitch I expect us to concede. Big test for us , we have to be up for this one, otherwise we will lose as, Derby are well drilled and have a striker bang in form. The next month will determine whether we can Stay in the race for the second automatic promotion place. In my time supporting Villa (26 years) we have tended to have very poor festive and January periods. It has to be different this year, if the club and the fans ambitions are to be realised. Let’s hope it will be the season to be merry!!! I have my contingency plan in place, when and if Villa produce their normal Christmas crap. My fridge is well stocked with various libations to help ease the inevitable disappointments.

We're in the top six without any real contribution by a striker in the first half of the season. Just imagine what our squad could do under the guidance of a proper coach. We have players who've been dangerous as strikers at other clubs, but we've bought them and then totally starved them of any useful service.

As expected Jedinak is in as CB. Two strikers on the bench but we're starting without one on the pitch. I guess we've at least given up pretending that we're trying to provide ball for a striker to do his job!
