I'm not even sure why I'm still watching.

It's all well and good playing nine defensive players but it's not much use when they're crap and the opposition can just play around them as if they are not there. We had a packed box for the Sterling goal and they still scored. As for Richards, never mind a paltry £5million I wouldn't pay 50p for him if I was an opposition manager.

I'm not sure why we bother any more. We get an eleven selected from the same 12/13 players who let us down time and again. There is absolutely no positives to be clung to other than the season will be over soon. We get the same outcome of a group of players who offer little attacking venture and even less fight. It's just dismal. What's the point of this Aston Villa team?

I'm now definitely including Remi Garde in the criticism, because he said yesterday that the key was defending to the point where we delayed the first goal scored against us. I thought it was probably lost in translation, but his team selection and "tactics" today backed up what he said.

Pellegrini's team talk had to be so simple .... "just be patient until they make a mistake, and then we fill our boots as they crumble."

You could argue that we did what he wanted. We lasted the first half so did delay the scoring of the goal but after that we caved in typical style.

I'll be blunt, Garde has been dealt a shitty hand but he's not really shown much at all this season. Maybe he will be decent with his own players but this season he's, at best, been a frustrating manager.

Today was an admission from Garde that all he now try to offer is damage limitation.

If damage limitation is our game and damage limitation ends in us shipping four maybe we should just refuse to fulfill the rest of our fixtures? Not a serious suggestion, of course, but it would probably minimise our heartache.

I'm assuming City declared at four. I had other things going on so I couldn't follow the game.

They took it nice and easy in the first half, then put a bit of pressure on in the second half. We folded gave them four goals, and then waited until everyone could go for a shower. I think that just about covers it.

Okore must be well impressed at being benched. He's having to watch rubbish defending, while knowing that Garde thinks he's even worse!

If you can bear it, force yourself to watch the "lowlights" of yesterday's match again. Richards got a fair bit of stick for his performance, Clark continues to be out of position and makes bad decisions, but Hutton is unbelievably bad defensively, and all the goals take advantage of the space left by his inability or refusal to mark his defender. He just stands there ball watching.

While I'm in a complaining mood Westwood showed yet again why he shouldn't be on the pitch, and it was nice to see Gabby enjoying a gentle Saturday afternoon stroll, oblivious to what was going on around him.

Richards is a player that dines out on past glories from when he was a young right back. He's now entering the peak of his career and barely looks Championship standard.
