Terribly shocking news. Dalian died as a result of a heart attack after being Tasered. I feel awful typing these words.

His contribution to the semi-final in 1994 versus Tranmere was huge. He threw us a lifeline in the away leg when 3-0 down that proved pivotal.

And there was the goal at Wimbledon.

I remember the sheer vibrancy of that day and Dalian's performance. It was so exciting to be a Villa fan in the last few minutes of that Tranmere match. It sends shivers down my spine all these years later.

There are some very sad facts emerging about Dalian's state of mind immediately before he died. No doubt we shall hear more over the next few days. Tasers are potentially lethal weapons, and I'm sure that their use will be the subject of debate now.

Black or white this shouldn't have happened, but it is a quantifiable fact that black people are still treated differently by the police too many times.

From the eyewitness quotes this news does not surprise me. Accounts that sounded like he was tasered possibly up to six times, the one officer telling the other to back off when he was kicking Atkinson.

Police are trained to use their batons effectively, they may have had access to pepper spray also. This whole situation is suss.
