The Midfield

One of the most commented issues there is, the Aston Villa midfield.
The present midfielders generate the same reaction as marmite, Westwood, much maligned or a sideways passing incompetent?
Gardner, full of talent & just needs a run in the side or not up to it.
Lyden, where has he disappeared to?
Bacuna, midfielder? Right back?
Tishibola? Fantastic or unfit?
Jedinak, past it or too much to do in a poor team?
Grealish, superstar or villain?
The debate has gone on long enough, we need to address this & PDQ!

Our best hope with the existing midfield is that Tshibola stays fit and Jedinak shapes up. Apparently, he played on Saturday having only landed back in Britain from a flight back from Australia the day before. Not sure what excuse he had for previous performances was, though.
I know a lot of people love Grealish but, for now, I'm wondering when he will a) grow up and b) find some end product.

Like them or loath them we let Gueye, Sachez, Sinclair, Veretout, Gil, Traore and N'Zogbia go in the summer.
We bought in Jedinak, Tshibola and Adomah.
Sinclair and Veretout were our only assisters although Traore may have been if he'd played more.
How on earth RDM thought we could cope with the bare bones of a midfield that we've been left with is a mystery.
All we can do is struggle through to January and make sure we put this sorry situation right.
In the meantime Lyden deserves a game rather than the totally ineffective Westwood. I would also use Gardner for the first 60/65 minutes of a match, no longer because he get's sloppy as he tires.
