FA Cup third round draw

... is tonight.

Who do you want and do you hold high hopes of a cup run? I'm going to be honest and say this year my feelings are the opposite from usual. I'm a traditionalist and I love the FA Cup so would love little more than to see us win the thing. This season, however, I'd happily see an early exit. In the Championship league games are scheduled for the weekend of every FA cup game so a run could cause fixture congestion in a league where there are already lots of midweek fixtures. Of course, an exit to a lower league team would be damaging so my hope is for a difficult draw against a tricky Premier League side before an inevitable exit.

I wish I could disagree with you Sandie, but we just don't need the distraction of a cup run. January is going to be a problematic time for us due to the African Nations Cup, and we already have five matches scheduled for that month. We definitely don't need two extra cup matches wedged in.

One of my more selfish reasons for not being keen on a cup run was that it would see our fixture at Newcastle - my annual away trip - being bumped to midweek to accomodate the 5th round fixtures if either us or Newcastle got that far. Now Sky have decided (as expected) to televise that game but have bumped the game to Monday sodding night. Great.

It's also a key game, a showpiece of the Championship that will probably not have an atmosphere that is everything that it could be.

That's a good point. We need our twelfth man in the away section singing and shouting us on. A smaller Villa fan presence will penalise us.

They probably see a chance that Spurs will Spurs it and there will be a shock. The headline on that site "Aston Villa V Spurs" is a bit confusing/misleading as it's at White Hart Lane.
