In the great scheme of things, the City defeat doesn't matter a jot and on Tuesday night we return to battling mission highly improbable. Maybe, with a new player or two on board.

What do we expect? Who should play in this one? I think West Ham are too good for us to prevail, I'm predicting a 2-1 defeat.

I know yesterday was meaningless, but I was genuinely shocked at my own personal apathy and also that of other Villa fans I've talked to. Nothing but three points will do against West Ham, but saying that is meaningless because of the refusal of our team to collectively give 100%. We may have a couple or even three or four players busting a gut again on Tuesday night but that's not enough to win a match.

I'll go with a 1-1 draw, which will ultimately not be enough, but a decent result if you take away the circumstances and what's needed.

I wasn't surprised by the mcfc defeat, nothing will surprise me with Villa anymore. I still believe we could somehow get out of this, but equally I know we're very likely to go down with a whimper.

3 points tomorrow could really really help, Come on Villa!!!

I just get the feeling that if we don't make a signing today, these players will heave a collective sigh of relief, as it means they are guaranteed to feature without having to fight for a place. I've gone for a loss.

Richards nearly deflects the ball into the net at our end, then Ayew cuts the ball back across their box and there's no Villa player following up. I've heard this before haven't I?
