Lescott and Richards are a terrible partnership. We need to bring back Clark and Okore.

Lescott is too slow, Richards is too late.

No manager could make a decent side out of these players. Ill-disciplined, unprofessional and dining out on past glories.

If Bernstein can identify our defensive coach then he should sack him. Cissokho is playing almost in the middle where a CB should be, he is consistently 15 metres at least from Chelsea's wing man. The space behind the fullbacks is being pillaged time and time again. We make it ridiculously simple for the opposition to beat us. Can we not coach our defence, or are the defence ignoring instructions? They can't be trained to play like this can they?

Cissokho was last man for the penalty he gave away, so we should be playing with ten men.

It doesn't get any better does it?

The consistent incompetence of our defence boggles the mind.

And, right as I'm typing, they show it again. 3-0. Appalling.

If those players think it will be alright as they can move back into the PL in the summer they are sadly deluded. Nobody would be daft enough to sign these players based on their performances this season. I'd mock them for that but it means we're stuck with them and in that scenario a manager would be, no doubt, urged to make use of expensive assets. Mad

Ayew and Gana can at least say they've tried. The rest have let themselves down.

And there's no coincidence that those are the only two players I'd even think about considering if I was a manager of another Premier League club. Most of the rest aren't even good enough to play in the Championship next season.

4-0.

What on earth were Lescott and Richards playing at there?!

Boos all round.

A bit of a nasty tackle there from Hutton and Lyden. Chelsea player lucky to be unhurt. Hutton off for it.

Players trying a bit too hard to show they are putting effort in.

I never normally find myself saying this, but Hutton showed a lot of our players up today with sheer effort and commitment. He still has no end product but at least he tried, even if it did cost him two yellow cards.

Alan Hutton is a good pro, which makes him very much an exception in our first team squad. The problem is that, whilst his effort and commitment are through the roof, his quality and ability are not as high. He always tries. Other players at the club have far greater abilities but are miles away from Huttons commitment.

There's no coincidence that Hutton is about the one senior British player at out club one never hears bad stories about or is caught misbehaving.

We looked like a relegated team again today. Three defensive midfielders and not one of them is coached to come wide and cut off the wingers. Not one of them drops in behind the wing back when he goes forward. What a shambles! No organisation and huge holes in a leaky defence. What a state to get into .... all but a handful of players have already given up, and it looks as though our coaching staff have as well. How was this ever going to bring back pride to the Villa fans Eric?

Hang your head Lerner.

Our relegation might be confirmed next weekend so not sure what there is still to give up on. I think bringing in the awful Richards and Sanchez who struggles to pass wind after a curry did mark a retrograde step. There was very little professional pride on display today. Little sign of players looking to fight for their future either with Villa or to impress with another club. Not sure what a manager is to do with that.

Next game round, I'd bring Clark and Okore in to defence. They can't be worse and they will probably a whole heap less terrible.
