I suppose we should have a match thread for this one.

Bournemouth were our opposition, back in those heady days when we still had hope, on the first day of the season. We fluked a win that day and who could have expected that we have won just two more times in the nearly 8 months since and have a very big chance of being confirmed to be a championship side by tea time on Saturday.

Maybe we will see the players trying to bust a gut to win the fans back over with a positive result. Maybe a squadron of Tamworths will be spotted flying over Aston on Saturday too.

0-2 defeat.

I certainly didn't predict that this season would be such a mess. In fact, I remember blogging for this forum and stating that we'd perhaps finish in mid-table. How wrong was I?

We'll lose on Saturday. Will it be 0-1? Or maybe 0-4? To be fair the margin won't matter. Even if Norwich don't pick up a point at Palace to condemn us there and then, we'll run out of games the week after at Man. United where, ironically, I don't think we've won since a current villain of the piece (Agbonlahor) scored the only goal with a header back in, was it 2009?

It has to be a loss. Anything else would be farcical after the lack of effort from our players recently. Let's get it over with.

If Bournemouth had got three points from the first match of the season against us (as they fully deserved), we would now be relegated. It's probably karma that they come to Villa Park, pick up the three points that we gift wrap for all visiting teams these days and send us down where we belong.

Villa 1 - Bournemouth 2. Don't ask me who's going to score for us. scratch

You did say that it was going to be a crucial season. You were not wrong there!

I would rather go down this weekend against Bournemouth at Villa Park, than be relegated the following week away at Old Trafford.

Being relegated against a recent lower league team would firmly underline our failure.

I just want it done with. The opposition doesn't factor into it.

I would normally say "I've got no sympathy for him" but I've picked up another bug myself and I'm feeling miserable. So "condolences" Gabby.

Unless, of course, it's Gabby finding a way to refuse to train again. Smile

I really do hope we lose tomorrow .... is that wrong? I've had enough of this season.

I'm not sure. If it is wrong, then I am wrong too. I'd just like to see relegation confirmed. Everyone will get the bile out of their system and we can start to look forward. I urge Black to pick players he thinks will be around next season but maybe not until after the existing failures have got the ritual tongue lashing they deserve tomorrow.

That's a fair summing up of our current situation.
