I don't think we'll see Lerner again. I think he's genuinely embarrassed about his failure at Villa. The last couple of years were so traumatic that he'll cut all ties and try to think of AVFC as no more than a bad dream.

I've just finished reading about 70 replies to Pat Murphy's article (rehash) about the Villa takeover. The majority are cynical attacks on Villa or foreign owners in general, but one reply stood out. It was from a Wolves fan, who said he was envious of Villa, as you have to have money to have a chance these days. A little bit of honesty amongst the cynicism of plastic keyboard warriors.

(I have a lot of respect for Wolves, due to growing up in an era when they were a top club.)

It's the beginning of 'trying' again. That's much better than the 'not trying' era that's just ended.

Sometimes over the last couple of years it seemed as if this day would never come. After rumour and counter rumour about interested buyers who never materialised came a period of 'Villa limbo'. That has ended today.

Onwards and upwards guys!cheers

If last season hadn't gone so badly for us and we'd stayed up, then Hollis may never have been bought in to help sell the club. Fox might still be here with Almstadt smirking at the great unwashed, and planning for more of the same, while dipping their snouts in the SKY trough. It probably had to end badly to get rid of this bunch of fools.

I agree with you there. I think what happened last season had been coming for some time after such a long period of stagnation. The longer our decline was strung out the worse the relegation season would have been. Had we dropped out of the league the season before we probably would have suffered a lot less pain even though, in that particular parallel universe, it would still have hurt as we couldn't have anticipated last season.

The first day of a new era begins with a press conference. I hope that Tony Xia and his staff will communicate with us regularly. Fans are integral to the success of Villa.
