Meanwhile, it sounds like Ross McCormack is putting more effort in to devising excuses for not making it to training than actually training.
It sounded like he put a proper shift in, but it still doesn't disguise the fact that he's a striker that doesn't score goals.

I'd not be surprised if this report is accurate. Only we could not do our homework properly and sign a known bad egg.

I remember the one thing that RDM said was that he was doing extensive research into players historical attitudes and behaviour before buying them. That would seem not to be the case when he bought McCormack.

Wollaston is a senior editor at the Mail and he comes out with this drivel .... the tea lady could have written a better story.

The fact that he hasn't apologised yet speaks volumes about his attitude. He clearly doesn't want to be here.

Gabby's injury makes Steve Bruce's team selection a lot more predictable. We should have a strong and focussed team tonight and for the next few matches.

Gabby has done his best in the last few matches and put the effort in, but he's become a striker who doesn't score goals, and that's no good for Villa.

If Hogan comes in Gabby's involvement will be much reduced, injury or no injury.

Good to see that RHM has finally signed his new contract.

If he'd signed his new three and a half year contract a month ago he could have played 4 or 5 times for us during January. He may well have made a real impression. I wonder whether Gabby's "serious hamstring injury" and Ayew leaving has allowed Bruce to make him promises about getting regular sub opportunities? Whatever the reason for his signing I'm pleased that he can now get his head down and develop into the player we hope he can be.

He'd probably have made more of an impact that the two overweight hasbeens we were saddled with in Kodjia's absence. Of course, we now have him back and the newly added Hogan too, so RHM may have missed a big opportunity to impress over January when we were threadbare.

Rhodes scored on his debut for Sheff Wed, but I'm still pleased we signed Hogan instead of Rhodes. Hogan is quicker, stronger and just as sharp around the target. He's going to be a key player for us.

As painful as this is going to be in the short term, I feel we have to stick with Steve Bruce and put our faith in his signings. There is absolutely no point us making changes in the management structure. Our club needs stability now.
