What will be the outcome against QPR?

It wasn't pretty but we got three points against a very poor team. Baker was immense at the back, and Kodjia redeemed himself with a strikers goal. Bunn did well surprisingly, but a better team will find him out. Amavi is class.

Three positives.

We've won a SKY game!

We've won away!

We've won at Loftus road for a change!

yipppeee we won on TV. Baker has to be first voice ahead of the pedestrian Elphick.
We must build off the back of that performance and hopefully we can get some new additions in quickly in January. A centre mid is a massive priority as westward and gardner just aren't up to it. New Goalkeeper will help although I agree with you VB Bunn was solid today.

Good to see a J_V post. QPR V Aston Villa 18th December 12:00 - Page 2 4288271622

Baker was head and shoulders (literally) above the rest! You're right Jim, we have to build on this .... no more back sliding.

I also agree about the importance of signing a class central midfielder (Lansbury?) and a big experienced keeper.

Baker showed that size does matter, he was dominant. That's why I keep on about signing a "BIG" keeper because we are too small in the six yard box.

We needed to win and we did. We saw some familiar failings but we also managed to grind it out again. Hopefully the goal will get Kodjia firing again. Only player I felt did particularly poorly was the anonymous McCormack.

I feel sorry for McCormack. Every one in football knows that there is only one role that he excels in, he has to be given plenty of ball in and around the box so we are not the team for him because of our style of play. We've purchased strikers in the last couple of years without a thought about whether there was a role for them at AVFC.

Some very interesting points there which I had failed to consider. Seen a lot of comments about McCormack being lazy or out of shape but it's just as likely that he doesn't fit our system.

McCormack has scored lots of goals as the main man for ordinary teams. His style of play depends on the rest of the team playing with him as the main focus. Good player .... wrong club.
