We take a break from league action for the third round of the FA Cup. Unusually for me, I don't have much interest in this this year, as the congested Championship fixture schedule means that any FA Cup games after the third round are going to make our schedule pretty difficult.

We're playing Tottenham at White Hart Lane. Remember when these two clubs were on a par and both aspiring to make the top four? Well times change. They're third in the Premiership and we are where we are. Last night they even ended Chelsea's winning run with an excellent performance. Is there much, if any hope? This would be a shock if we won.

So does anyone think we have got what it takes to spring one? Who wants to take the FA Cup seriously? And what, if any, changes should be made to the side? Full strength or weakened etc?

We will lose. Let's say 3-0. As for resting players, as we can't rest players we haven't signed yet I don't see much need to. Maybe give a couple the game off like Baker, Amavi or Jedinak but other than that our first team is plenty weak enough. He can even pick Westwood if he likes.

We need to lose this one and we almost certainly will .... so job done.

I was thinking back to when we used to play Spurs in the Premier and for some reason the 4-1 loss at WHL when we had Marlon Harewood playing for us sprang to mind. That was early on in our slide to the Championship, but it had begun.

The game where we were 4-1 up there and conspired to draw sticks in my mind. As does the game where McLeish played Hutton and Heskey as wingers.

We need to lose this. The next round comes at the end of this month and we don't need extra games.

I must've been tired when I wrote that. I missed a "be" somewhere.

I still think we'll get tonked and, for this season at least, we could do without the distraction.

We just need to concentrate on the team building job that should have been done last summer. That's when each of the new management team picked their own favourite player/s, while totally forgetting they actually had to be able to play together.

A loss on Sunday is nothing in the bigger scheme of things.

I think Spurs will play a second string team that will probably stuff us.

I'm not a fan of our team ethic or togetherness at the moment. We can't play as a team without a proper midfield, so coaching will have little effect. It will be a bunch of individuals playing with an isolated forward yet again.

Anything can happen in a Cup match, but this game genuinely doesn't bother me. It's next week against Wolves that's making me nervous.

If I have a couple of drinks about 4pm I might start to cheer for a Cup upset. Common sense tells me we do not need the distraction of a Cup run though.

Eternally optimistic, I Think this will be a close match. I think Spurs will be very confident of beating Villa easily and im not sure they are expecting a tough match. Cardiff and Norwich matches aside, Villa under Bruce have dug in, in most matches. If Spurs are any where near the normal levels they will walk this, if they underestimate Villa it could be a tight match.

Weak(?) Spurs team:
Vorm, Trippier, Carter-Vickers, Alderweireld, Wimmer, Davies, Dier (C), Winks, Sissoko, Son, Janssen

They'll still win comfortably.
