Been a week off before this one so hopefully the players have benefitted from a lot of time in training getting to gel together.

We're facing Bristol City who are two places above us with two wins (Wigan and Burton) and two defeats (Newcastle and Norwich) in their first four.

So what do we think? Win, lose or draw?

We need a win this weekend, we should have garnered a few more points than we have. Individual errors have cost us, if we can cut out the errors and take our chances better this weekend i'm confident we can get the 3 points and start to look to gain momentum!

I think this one will be a win, that said most of Bristol City's results so far this season have been narrow ones which means our ability to shoot ourself in the foot may be a problem. 2-1 Villa.

Do we know if Gestede and Tshibola will be fit?

Jedinak and De Laet should play, so it depends on whether they immediately gel as a unit. Bristol City are a decent team and will give us a real battle.

I'm feeling optimistic, so I will go 2-1 to Villa. Bristol City V Aston Villa: Saturday 27th August 15:00 205019816

Also feeling optimistic.

Our lack of goals away from home is a concern though so I'll say 1-0.

We need a really strong performance on Saturday. We've played reasonably well so far, with a couple of excellent halves thrown in. The problem is that we haven't played two good halves in the same match!

We have enough added character with our new signings to put this right, and we need to start playing a full 90 minutes in this match.

A bit of an update on players fitness.

Gestede and Tshibola will not be fit. Jedinak is cleared to play.

I'd go 4-4-2 then. Not sure who would be in the wide positions. Grealish and Green? Or dare I say it Bacuna?

Why? What do you expect to be differant to our last few games. Also pressure is now on with such a soso start to this campain. And you know what happens when pressure starts building. We go back to this bizzare way of playing that has stayed with us throughout at least our last 3 managers. 0-0 at best.

One thing Saturday will be is telling. I hope we don't go back to being the Villa that has been typical the last few seasons. A win is a must and hopefully having Jedinak in will help (though I wonder who we can put in in CM with him).

I'm gradually falling back in love with Aston Villa. I'm excited about renewing that connection tomorrow when we play Bristol City. I really couldn't care less about AVFC for the last two thirds of last season, which hurt me a lot.

I now love Villa almost as much as I love Marion Cotillard .... but that's another story. Embarassed

Let's hope the ones that we love don't end up hurting us again this season.
