The way I see tomorrow's game is that we're playing one of the favourites for promotion. We are probably rated as mid table at best currently, so a win is going to be hard to acheive. Three points will be a fantastic result from our first 'six pointer' of a very long season! Sheffield Wednesday v Aston Villa: Sunday 7th August 16:30 - Page 2 205019816

Having been feeling a bit negative at the start of the week I am now feeling a lot more positive with the signing of McCormack and other news out of VP. I think we can get something. Wednesday won't give us an easy game but I think we can win.

I can see us scoring a couple but i do worry about our young keeper. If Guzan was between the sticks i would be convinced of a Villa win. Well we shall soon see.

I think success today depends on RDM's team selection.

I believe he will play Hutton at right back which tells us two things .... The majority of our attacking supply will be channelled through him, and that will reduce our scoring potential .... and secondly he will vacate his defensive position so often that Sheffield will attack that open space (if they've done their homework) and we are very likely to concede.

I'm also sure that Westwood will play in the centre and that will mean that we are less effective with supply and assists than we need to be.

These two apparently hard working players have been a big part of our failure to keep clean sheets and get the ball in the oppositions net.

I will be surprised if we see Gestede, Ayew and McCormack on the pitch at the same time, but it needs to happen if we're going to start making a dent in the eighty plus goals that we will need to score this season. It would mean RDM has to change his system to accommodate potential match winners, and I've seen no indication so far that he's about to change his philosophy.

The best eleven players (plus three subs) that you have available should dictate the way you play in my opinion .... Not the manager's preferred system.

Yes, much as I'm more positive now we have McCormack it doesn't change that our defence is patchy and our midfield piss-weak. Wednesday have Bannan and the move has seemingly re-energised him. He'll be motivated against his old team and if we play the kind of feeble midfield we did in pre-season he'll be able to make hay.

At least we've got the right front three, midfield looks very poor and back four as expected.

Have we made a clean pass to an attacking player yet? Sheff Wed are giving us a lesson in shape and support running. We look tactically clueless. We have a midfield that consists of three defensive players and one striker! Get a grip RDM.

Midfield is killing us. Why are Bacuna and Westwood persisted with?

I would love to ask RDM that question face to face!

On the positive side, Elphick and Gollini have been superb. We would not be at 0-0 had we had Lescott and Guzan in this team.

We were much livelier in the last half hour, but hands up those who didn't expect us to beat ourselves again! We have two full backs who cant kick a ball properly and it's going to continue to cost us.

We could have got something out of this if we weren't still an accident waiting to happen.

I'm not too worried. From what we hear there are many irons in the fire with regard to planned additions with half a side looking to be added. Hopefully, by September we will have a side with a very different look to it. The players that let us down are the same players who have always let us down so it's no surprise. Sorry for Gollini as he had played really, really well up until he sliced that clearance and probably kept us in the game.

Disappointing result, a game we didn't deserve to lose.

A few more signings and a bit of time to gel and I think we'll be alright. Put another way, Wednesday finished 6th last season yet they didn't deserve to beat us.
