I'm getting nervous about the match tomorrow, which I feel is a real positive. All I felt with Sherwood managing us was resignation.

Stats: http://www.fourfourtwo.com/statszone/8-2015/matches/803283/pre-match#:t-UfNN3MnoA6TA

  • Everton have lost just one of their last nine Premier League encounters with Aston Villa (W4 D4), although that defeat did come last time out, 2-3 at Villa Park last May.
  • The Toffees have scored either two or three goals in each of their last nine Premier League games against Villa (along with a 1-1 in January 2012).
  • Romelu Lukaku has scored in each of his three top-flight games for Everton against Aston Villa (one in each game).
  • Lukaku is one goal off hitting 50 in the Premier League, which would make him only the fifth player in Premier League history to make that milestone before turning 23 (along with Fowler, Owen, Rooney and Ronaldo).
  • Everton have gone six top-flight games without keeping a clean sheet; only West Ham have gone longer without a shutout (seven games).
  • The Villans have now gone 11 Premier League games without enjoying a victory (D2 L9), the longest winless streak in the division.
  • Villa's haul of just five points after 12 games is their worst-ever haul at this stage of a top-flight season.
  • New Villa boss Remi Garde met Everton twice in the Premier League as an Arsenal player, winning one and drawing one, with both games coming at Goodison Park in 1997.
  • Everton are the only side in the Premier League this season to see all their goals scored from open play (20 out of 20).
  • Only David Silva (6) and Mesut Ozil (10) have more Premier League assists this season than Gerard Deulofeu (5).

Just a taste of a fantastic game .... I was there at Goodison with my sons and it was an awesome feeling being Villa supporters. We marched out of the stadium like an army, singing our heads off! Everton V Aston Villa: Saturday 21st November at 3PM - Page 2 205019816

I remember a certain centre half celebrating the Everton equaliser like a loon mere seconds before we scored that winner.

Whatever happened to him?

He's played left back a fair bit, but he was a bit quicker then.

Less than three hours to go. It's a big game for the Villa. We have to see improvement in order to start believing that we can survive. Remi and the lads will have to be collectively on top of their games to get anything out of this. A draw would be great for us, but a good performance is essential. There is a belief we will play 4 5 1, hutton, clark richards and richardson
Gil Gana Sinclair Veretout Ayew
Guestede

possibly, although question marks over Rudi and his fitness.

If not fit then Ayew up front and Sanchez in to midfield.

just a thought based on conjecture

I think you may be right apart from Sinclair. Remi may go with Sanchez in the deep role again.

Today will give us a bit of an insight into our future prospects under Garde. The team on paper today looks a little unbalanced to me, I've never been a big fan of westward and Richardson at left back is undoubtedly a downgrade on Amavi, I think Clarke is very inconsistent and is prone to goal giving mistakes very regularly. However Garde's philosophy very much seems to be about the team working effectively and efficiently as part of a single unit. I saw a quote in the week from one of the players, i think about the working forward and back together, if we can do this today with the team we have out then for me it could be promising times ahead!! come on the Villa do us proud today!!!!!
