If we'd thrown stupid money at Charlie Austin we may well have done. Big wages were essential, and no relegation clause may have been the very expensive key to getting three points.Sandie wrote:If we had spent money early on in the window, would we have won games like today and the match against Leicester?

I still think that a golden contract offer could have swung a deal on January 1st, but you're probably right Sandie, and let's face it we were never going to make that kind of offer with the tight fisted mugs in charge of Villa.Sandie wrote:The time to go for Austin was in pre-season as now I don't think that player like that would come to a club like us in the situation we found ourselves in in January.

If I was Remi I'd walk tonight. Everyone can see we need a striker and have done all year. I'd give them an ultimatum, back me or manage the team yourself. If they've given up, why shouldn't everyone else?! So angry at what I see as a grossly negligent, missed opportunity!!!
I'll say no more until I'm calm (should've read the first draft ha!)

Sandie wrote:Gana said last week that if the players had given up they'd sit at home and not bother to turn out. Chimes into the same thing, I think. The manager and players are still trying right now but they need some kind of reinforcement. I think you raise a valid point, people still turn out in good numbers in spite of everything.
Yep and the club need to acknowledge that, without the support we'd be nothing. Send them a message, you give up, so will we. Ironic that the board throw the white flag up at a time when the team are doing their best in ages to fight and claw for points. Just sunk into me today and really pissed me off. I read Kimbo's piece and thought, well f**k you!! Thank you very much!!

We should of secured a striker for Remi as a priority on Jan 1st and we'd be level with Newcastle now and as good a chance of survival as any of our fellow strugglers and with a little upward momentum on our side, instead Dumb and Dumber (Lerner and Fox, I'll not tar Hollis with the same brush yet) Just sit on their hands and 'save' money for next season in the Championship, Well you know what, Villa fans should do the same. Don't go again, don't buy merchandise, don't invest anything into that club, UNTIL they start to compete again. They're a disgrace!!

It needs to be said GM.
A handful of idiots have brought a great club to it's knees.

Sandie wrote:Been having a bit of a chat with some mates tonight and a couple of them pointed out that we're not dead yet and the next few games could see us narrowing the gap on the teams above us as we have the easiest run. I'm not convinced but it shows it may be too soon to write us off.
See this is where I'm at and why I'm so angry!! I still think momentum is with us and against some of our rivals, thus the short sightedness of our board is so bloody infuriating. If ever there was a time to speculate to accumulate, it is now. I don't mean reckless overspending that commits the club for years, but two loan deals on big salaries until the end of the season, is surely not too much to ask?? I'd offer Remy whatever he wanted (within reason obviously) for a few months and another top player that can't get a game, (names anyone??) Then get a GK and another DM and we're set to mount a challenge until the last kick. The fact we can't see this and won't do it is what's got me so mad today. I see a side that has the makings of a decent mid table outfit short term, that with a few little additions and a dollop of luck good still scrape out of this. Our board just giving up is unforgivable. I'll never ever forgive for this. Putting us in this mess could be forgiven over time with the right decisions and learning on past errors, doing nothing now is criminal in football terms!!
