Re: Greatest Aston Villa XI?
Any ideas? Some of my suggestions include Miloservic, Crouch and of course John Carew. Also guys like Chris Price, Kent Neilsen & Ian Olney from Graham Taylor's magnificent 2nd placed side in 1990. I'd be interested to hear some more suggestions.

You're right about the fact that his age would have meant that he would have shone for no more than 1 or 2 seasons .... but in his three games for us he was different class!Andyvilla80 wrote:Great shout! Tragic that his career ended. Think he was about 33 when he signed so may not have had too long, but looked class in the games he played!

Laursen would be in my best team .... the guy was a Villa God with flawed knees. I loved him!Knighty5 wrote:This could be controversial but would Laursen be placed in cult X1 as was a hero but not many games over a fair few years.
Alongside Paul McGraph you would have a duo of God's.

I was there on Bouma's Villa Park debut and he made a sliding tackle at 90 miles an hour right in front of me and my sons. Frightening tackle!Knighty5 wrote:My Cult players Kevin Gage, Bouma, Savo.

He may not have been in their class but a left back who I loved for his total commitment even though he was tiny .... Alan Wright .... he could hit a decent cross as well.Andyvilla80 wrote:Bouma King & Gage. Left back is looking competitive!
I remember nearly chinning a fan who sat just behind me for shouting abuse at Wrighty!
