With no mid-week games this week and our last game being a Friday night fixture we have eight days between our last fixture and our next.

We will face Cardiff, now managed by Neil Warnock, in this one. They're in 21st place but the arrival of the man nicknamed Colin Wanker has lifted their form somewhat. Having scored a relatively low 17 goals (but only one fewer than us before we get excited) and conceded 27 they have had issues at both ends of the pitch. Whilst they present a less frightening prospect than Brighton we must be on our guards as they beat high flying Huddersfield last weekend. This is no home banker.

So the usual questions apply, what do we expect and what changes should be considered?

We have to win this one. It doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to be three points. I'm going 3-1 Villa.

2-0 Villa, I think. It has to be a win as I am going to be there!

I hope so too.

I think there are some reasons to be hopeful considering how we performed in the second half against Brighton. That's the best we have been under Bruce and demonstrates the clear and gradual improvement we have witnessed over his weeks in charge.

We aren't at our strongest or best yet. That gives us plenty of scope for match by match improvement.

McCormack is back from suspension. Anyone want him straight back in?

I would play McCormack as a thirty minute impact sub against Cardiff.

Probably fair as he's looked leaden so far in his time with us. Ayew and Grealish both expressed compelling cases to be brought into the starting XI when they came on against Brighton.

I think McCormack has a part to play this season. We need to maximise our use of attacking players so that they are playing at full tempo throughout the 90 minutes. Barring injuries we should be using two of our substitutions to run the legs off the opposition defence in the last third of the game. With the number of games to be played fresh legs will make a difference, and fortunately we've got more options up front than most other teams.

Neil Warnock team's give 100%, so it's not going to be an easy game tomorrow. I see that the Cardiff squad have had to deal with a sickness bug this week so that may leave them vulnerable in the last 20/30 minutes of the match. These bugs can be debilitating. I'm sticking to 3-1 to the mighty Villa. Aston Villa V Cardiff: Saturday 26th November 15:00 205019816

McCormack and Gabby both have sore ankles after picking up knocks, so that should mean Grealish and Ayew will feature. Trouble is I'm betting that Westwood's name will be on the team sheet before our potential match winners.

If we don't beat Cardiff, how will we as fans feel come Sat 5pm?

It's the beginning of the weekend and I'm off out to the local with some of the family for some games of Pool and a few beers. I've got a bit of a buzz going on because I'm positive that Villa are going to win tomorrow. It should be a great weekend .... starting now. Life's great if everyone's healthy and Villa are winning! Somewhat deflated, I would suggest. We've not yet lost a game under Bruce, however, having picked up some points that it could be argued we shouldn't which is so much unlike us it can be argued we are due a reverse.
