I think I've got past anger and moved on to a very grudged acceptance of the Terry thing.

I still recall having a discussion a few weeks ago with a colleague about the biggest twat in sport and Terry being our agreed choice. Still no faulting his ability at his peak, I suppose, though.

The football world seem to agree on balance that Terry is a decent bloke behind the scenes. His arrogance and bad behaviour got the better of him a few times and made him the number one media target. His transgressions were then held up to a spotlight which would have destroyed lesser characters. He seems about right for the coming Villa battle .... flawed but feisty!

Dr T has announced that Terry is joining Villa .... official announcement to follow.

Terry's 36 year old body might be past it's best, but his mental strength, experience and knowledge of the game is at it's zenith.

Welcome John.

With JT at the back with Chester, Jedi in midfield and Kodja upfront that's a very decent spine just need a GK and we will be looking solid if not yet spectacular. Great signing to give us that bite!!!

Terry will also bring a winning mentality. Something sadly lacking at the club for a long time. Whatever my views on him as a person he seems to be in it for the right reasons. Other clubs would be a bigger payday or offer a higher level but he obviously wants the challenge.

I'm just a bit worried about Bruce's pursuit of Glen Whelan. GW is a great character and even at 33 years of age will work hard, but he's a midfielder who doesn't contribute goals or assists. Unless Bruce is bringing him in as another older player to share one position with Jedinak, it doesn't seem the best signing to make. We will perhaps be harder to beat with him in the team, but even less likely to play constructively through the midfield.

I don't see the sense in it at all. Maybe five years ago but now? It's baffling.

Peter Crouch being linked with a return.

Are we auditioning for a remake of Dads Army. Who do you think you're kidding Mr Bruce?

Tony Xia has tweeted to say it's just newspapers filling space fortunately, but I am worried about Bruce seemingly thinking that only old players can do the job of getting us promoted. If we do get promoted with "Dads Army" then we have to buy a new team to avoid relegation from the Premier again! We should just keep adding two or three "better" players for key positions each transfer window.

First decide how your team is going to play Steve, then buy the right players for the way you want them to play. Don't buy a bunch of gutsy old blokes and then scratch your head trying to get them all into the same team!

If we win promotion what kind of a money mad Premier League will we be returning to? When players like Sigurdsson and Walker are quoted at a transfer "value" of £50 million then it's only a short time before the whole league implodes. Sky's mega millions will finally kill the golden goose!

It's mental, isn't it. 8 or 9 years ago we were challenging for the top four with Everton. Look at the money that club are spending and the players they are bringing in for what is probably going to be 5th or 6th place.

We really couldn't have picked a worse time to get relegated.

It's not like we have four first team right backs at the club already, is it? Or that last season we had the fourth best defensive record in the Championship.

I still think our midfield is a lot more than a Glenn Whelan away of being capable of getting us out of the Championship.

I honestly cannot begin to understand what Steve Bruce's plan is. Whatever it may be it has to have been approved by Wyness and Round, and I find this worrying.

It was obvious last season that the midfield did not assist or score anywhere near enough (if at all!!!!!), and this was contributed to by our RWB bombing forward all the time and commandeering most of our attacking ball. IT DIDN'T WORK STEVE!!!!!!

It appears we're going to make exactly the same mistake this season!

Why are we desperately trying to sell Amavi (that will leave us with just one LB) and Veretout, in order to replace them with elderly work horses in the shape of another RWB and another defensive midfielder?

We needed to add creative supply from a midfield that would link closely to our strikers .... every fan could see this last season .... clearly Bruce cannot see this, and Calderwood and Clemence cannot coach this .... I am not looking forward to next season one little bit.

Once again apologies for the negativity, I wish I could sound more upbeat.
