With the transfer season done and dusted, we have very strong squad of players. The seasons starts for real on Sunday and I think we will be a force to be reckoned with from this point on. 3-1 to the Villa this weekend and then its onwards and upwards.

Thanks for starting the thread, Jim. ASTON VILLA V NOTTINGHAM FOREST 2614569260

We haven't really seen a telling signal of intent on the pitch yet, have we? I'm hoping it's only a matter time and that time being the coming Sunday. 2-0 win that will hopefully ease the nerves.

We have to score two goals at least this Sunday. One goal is never enough given our fragile second half displays.

I think we'll have too much for Forest .... so I'll go for 3-1, although I'd rather see a 2-0, just to show that we can keep a clean sheet as well as putting the ball in the opposition net a couple of times.

Another factor this weekend will be RDM's team selection and tactics. Westwood must not play, and we have to play with more width to accommodate and supply our attacking players. We should learn more about Di Matteo in this match.

I'm hoping to see Jedinak and Tshibola play together, though Jedinak has picked up a knock on international duty.

Forest are set to sign Bendtner: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37288136

I remember him getting a couple against us in the past.

We certainly have the fire power to outscore the opposition but with our tendency to shoot ourselves in the foot we might very well need to.

I think our focus should be setting up to outscore the opposition, given that we have the most potent strike force in the league.

However, I expect us to keep setting up with a tight defence behind two defensive midfielders, which won't be the best use of our current players imo.

I think that will be a real partnership in the making. This seems like a big old fashon game between two big old clubs. Think we will score 1 each half to sneak the win.

Forest are a poor away team, so for that reason I still see a win even if we get the selection and tactics wrong again.

It's interesting to note that all the teams we play this month have currently scored more points than us.

Forest are also, from what I understand, in a negative place off the pitch. Wonder if that will affect their players on Sunday?

We seem to have a number of players with niggling injuries, so it probably won't be the team selection we were hoping to see. We should still be able to out score Forest though.

Agree VB shame we probably won't be able to play Tshibola and Yedinak together tomorrow. Im hoping that we can see a Villa team that is more consistent across the 90 mins and cuts out the individual errors. We need to find ways of seeing games out and getting points because we need a lot of them this season, so we need to crack on now.
I think we will win tomorrow ........i'm confident..........who am I trying to kid Very Happy

We have individually better players in this league than all but Newcastle. We need to play to the strengths of these players rather than force them to adapt to the managers favoured system. If we do this then all that's left to do is BELIEVE!

If our players truly believe they're the better players and the better team, we can beat any one in this league.
