How are we still conspicuously awful in midfield?

We're playing with Kodjia isolated up front and the defence are far too deep, and playing like a bunch of strangers. The midfield are playing where the defence should be with an acre of empty space between them and our one striker.

It has to be the coaching!

Completely baffling, it doesnt seem to matter what a group of players we put together, we never play as a team, the players dont run for each other they dont seem to cover each other and communicate and do any of the basic things that any footballer of a decent level would automatically do. I think that prehaps because were a big draw in the championship and weve clearly got more financial muscle then any other club than maybe our players just feel like they need to turnup and that will be enough.

Ryan Woods for Brentford is orchestrating their midfield, he's pushing them up at every opportunity. We've got a panicky defence resulting in our midfield getting sucked back all the time.

It has to be the coaching Jim, because it looks like nobody has been given a clearly defined job. You're right about the lack of talking because I couldn't see any communication going on.

The thing that pisses me off the most is that if I was on the pitch during that capitulation i would be going mental and visibly fuming and trying to gee up my team mates. Was there a single player who even looked disappointed or show an ounce of passion, the players need to go out and bust a gut in the second half as none of them deserve to be wearing the shirt based on the first half. We've got 45 mins to make a meinz common Villa lets do it!!!

The players change, the coaches change. The end product stays shit. It's as if the very fabric of the club is poisoned.

Do we have a defence? Do we have anyone pressing the ball? Do we have a plan? 3-0 down and we're looking awful.

Brentford pressed furiously each time we got the ball .... we didn't. Green and Grealish do not know how to press, and the rest of our midfield were too far from the opposition to get in their faces. What do we do every day on the training ground? Other teams are making us look lazy and thick. It's got to stop.

Bruce has apologised. Each passing week he seems to be filled more and more with impotent rage to no avail.

I was so excited about the team we're putting together, but tonight I realised that we may have the players but we're a million miles from being a team.

That was frustrating beyond belief. The one hope that I'm currently clinging to is that the midfield is so new that they will need time to gel.

That doesn't help us this season, mind.
