He'll do well in that league but it's not because he's any good. I kept on forgetting he played for us. Often even during games he played in such was the level of anonymity of some of his performances. Still, he could always be relied on to get the odd goal in cup games against lower league teams which probably (along with his records at other PL club other than Swansea) shows that the Premier League is beyond him and he's more suited to the SPL. He might have done a job for us in the Championship but we've brought in McCormack and it looks like another striker might be on the way so probably not.

When Sinclair played his best football he played match after match as a left winger, with the freedom to cut inside. He was very effective, but it was only Championship level.

Congrats to Leanne and Jim.

My own trouble and strife is about a month away with my first. If he's in to football, he *will* be one of us (little sod can suffer like his old man lol).

Best of luck Chris to you and your missus .... I've got four sons and three of them are massive Villa fans, but one of them is a Chelsea supporter. I'll never get over the shame! Embarassed Transfer speculation 2016/17 - Page 14 3640643743

Interesting comment from Dr Tony. Three bids in and ongoing .... two loan negotiations. Possible five new players. I hope they're better than the players they will replace.

I was thinking "oh please please please please let him be going somewhere, anywhere, away from Villa", and while I still think the same, part of me now wonders whether he's being farmed out on loan somewhere.

Let's face it, I don't recall him attracting any bids when he was at his best about eight years ago. Why would anyone take a punt on him when he has completely failed, as club captain, to have any influence on the club when they have needed the most?

Dr Tonys Twitter post today, regarding pending incomings.............. really positive IF some of the names being linked materialise into signings, then for me the new owner and his team will have done a fantastic job this summer and made their intention, for an immediate return to the premier league, known!!

What a difference a week makes? Last week I was starting to panic but going into our first league game McCormack and the promise of further signings has made me feel much better.

Few names in the frame like Hernandez from Hull, McNair, Pantillimon, Jedinak, Wells etc.

It will be interesting to put names to bids as they develop.

I'm surprised at how determined Dr T and RDM are at clearing out the malcontents and dead wood. I know they said they would, but we've heard this in the past and nothing's been achieved. Hats off to our management for the way they've been strong over this issue. There is still a long way to go with players like Richards and Lescott still at the club and names like Westwood, Hutton, Cissokho and Bacuna appearing automatically on the team sheet. (Bacuna played quite well yesterday, but he isn't part of the solution imo)

Good post VB, yesterday was a blip and there will be plenty more along the way, however as fans we need to remain positive. We have an owner who couldn't be more determined an ambitious and our team and squad isn't finalised yet. Also their is some clarity, on where the weaknesses within our first team. I think DM has already seen that the likes of Hutton Westward Bacuna aren't of the required standard and is looking to upgrade in the next couple of weeks.

Another report: http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-latest-future-gabby-11717794

With five additional players being targeted it also seems likely that a number of starters are going to lose their places. And to that I say good!
