Re: Transfer speculation 2016/17
When Sinclair played his best football he played match after match as a left winger, with the freedom to cut inside. He was very effective, but it was only Championship level.Sandie wrote:He'll do well in that league but it's not because he's any good. I kept on forgetting he played for us. Often even during games he played in such was the level of anonymity of some of his performances. Still, he could always be relied on to get the odd goal in cup games against lower league teams which probably (along with his records at other PL club other than Swansea) shows that the Premier League is beyond him and he's more suited to the SPL. He might have done a job for us in the Championship but we've brought in McCormack and it looks like another striker might be on the way so probably not.

Congrats to Leanne and Jim.villabromsgrove wrote:One bit of news .... Leanne and Jim_Villan have added to the ranks of Villa fans with a beautiful bouncing baby boy. He weighs in at ten pounds and will be a real prospect! Congratulations.
My own trouble and strife is about a month away with my first. If he's in to football, he *will* be one of us (little sod can suffer like his old man lol).

Interesting comment from Dr Tony. Three bids in and ongoing .... two loan negotiations. Possible five new players. I hope they're better than the players they will replace.

Re: Transfer speculation 2016/17
I was thinking "oh please please please please let him be going somewhere, anywhere, away from Villa", and while I still think the same, part of me now wonders whether he's being farmed out on loan somewhere.Sandie wrote:I live in hope: http://7500toholte.sbnation.com/2016/8/6/12393418/is-gabby-agbonlahor-leaving-aston-villa
Let's face it, I don't recall him attracting any bids when he was at his best about eight years ago. Why would anyone take a punt on him when he has completely failed, as club captain, to have any influence on the club when they have needed the most?

Few names in the frame like Hernandez from Hull, McNair, Pantillimon, Jedinak, Wells etc.

It will be interesting to put names to bids as they develop.Sandie wrote:What a difference a week makes? Last week I was starting to panic but going into our first league game McCormack and the promise of further signings has made me feel much better.

Re: Transfer speculation 2016/17
I'm surprised at how determined Dr T and RDM are at clearing out the malcontents and dead wood. I know they said they would, but we've heard this in the past and nothing's been achieved. Hats off to our management for the way they've been strong over this issue. There is still a long way to go with players like Richards and Lescott still at the club and names like Westwood, Hutton, Cissokho and Bacuna appearing automatically on the team sheet. (Bacuna played quite well yesterday, but he isn't part of the solution imo)Sandie wrote:Hmmm: https://twitter.com/Stuart_Linnell

With five additional players being targeted it also seems likely that a number of starters are going to lose their places. And to that I say good!
