I see what you did there.

Looking at the clubs he has been with, I can kind of see why he has struggled to make an impact. He was at QPR during their "hasbeens living on their reputation" period and at Palace he is stuck behind some quality midfield players in the pecking order. He has promotion experience and potential. I also can't really see us being robbed in terms of transfer fee. I'm positive about this link.

It could even be a loan deal because it would benefit Palace to have him playing.

Gestede should be fully utilised by Villa this season. He's made for the Championship. Maybe he doesn't contribute too much in open play, but he scores goals and goals win matches.

Instead we favour a hasbeen who's barely fit and about as much of a goal threat as Alan Hutton.

Bruce has made a hell of a difference without getting everything right. I will try to be patient while he learns about individual players. I get as frustrated as you Sandie when he doesn't pick the players I want him to pick, but as I said recently about Tshibola, "Bruce was definitely right and I was wrong at the moment".

Henri Lansbury is a player I've always admired. He's a leader, he's as hard as nails, he's got good technique and he scores goals (three last night). I was just imagining him in our starting eleven today instead of Westwood .... he would make one hell of a difference!

He would tick several of our boxes. Championship experience (and with West Ham promotion experience), would strengthen us in our position of greatest weakness and he has acted as Forest's Captain in recent times (we have sought leaders in our recent transfer business).

His contract expires at the end of the season so a cut price deal or a pre-contract agreement could be tied up. He's another one of those that would make sense for us on a number of levels.

The way to strengthen in the Championship is to buy the best player from other Championship clubs. Lansbury has been Forest's best player for some time.

Indeed and Lansbury looks like a player with the potential to make it in the PL so another box ticked.

Bruce has said that he wont pay over the odds this January, and Lansbury is definitely going to be over priced even with his contract ending in the summer. I think we have to accept that we will be ripped off and get the right player regardless of cost. There are very few players who would be a perfect fit for Villa in a currently key weak position. In my opinion at the age of 26 Lansbury is worth paying top dollar for.

I always think that when managers say that are just using it as a negotiating ploy to bring down the prices of players.
