Re: Transfer speculation 2016/17
There were a couple of no brainer type signings that Newcastle made in the summer that we effectively missed out on in Richie and Gayle, I hope Lansbury isn't another missed opportunity!!

Re: Transfer speculation 2016/17
I'd understand signing Johnstone if we were doing it permanently and had a different goalkeeping situation (as in we already had an experienced number 1) but loaning him and making him a guaranteed number 1 doesn't sit comfortable. First, it puts Gollini's nose out of joint and it wouldn't surprise me if he left. We're then left with a keeper who shares the lack of experience and who's possibly going to be ours only for six months rather than bringing through our own player.
Johnstone has more experience in lower league English football than Gollini but I don't think that qualifies someone to play for a club like ours. The pressure and expectation is far greater here.

Re: Transfer speculation 2016/17
He's technically very good but he doesn't have the balls to play for Villa. I checked him out really thoroughly when we were first linked with him a couple of seasons back, and although he's physically well built he's weak when it comes to battling and giving 100%. Not what we need.Sandie wrote:I know nothing of this guy but a goal scoring midfielder would be useful even if he is mercurial: http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/01/03/do-why-wolves-and-aston-villa-are-reportedly-interested-in-tjaro/page/1/
