In other news, Kozak and Gestede have both left today.

Had the impression Gestede was a nice guy but as a striker I doubt he'll be missed.

As for Rudy, we never quite saw the best of him I think. Maybe yet another player we signed without fully considering how he'd fit in? I'd be happier seeing him playing regularly this month than Gabby but hey-ho.

The first bit of completed transfer business .... We do like to gamble with keepers don't we.
Welcome to Villa Sam.

I think we're about to find out whether he's better at the moment .... I don't think this is a long term appointment.Sandie wrote:Is he really any better than Gollini though? And Gollini might be the stronger long time prospect being as he is actually our player.

A resounding no to this. He doesn't have the fitness to play regularly due to all of his injury problems in the past. I remember talking to a friend of mine who is familiar with that type of injuries who reckoned we had done a great bit of business selling him when we did.

I must be one of the few fans who would welcome a "fit" Delph back. I like the bloke and think he's just the guy to energise our midfield along with Lansbury.Sandie wrote:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/01/06/aston-villa-manager-steve-bruce-risks-upsetting-fans-considers/

When he left us he got huge stick, but (imo) it was because he tried to let his heart rule his head initially. It was obvious to everyone that he couldn't turn down Man City and 120K a week.
Anyway it's irrelevant because he won't be coming to us (again imo).

Re: Transfer speculation 2016/17
I want to see a very clear concerted effort from both Steve Bruce and Steve Round to buy the exact players that we need. I don't want to see any signing who is not going to be on the first eleven team sheet automatically. I don't want to see any player coming in who does not perfectly fit our new team jigsaw.
We've got it wrong every transfer window since MON left the club (and possibly a year before then). It's time to show that the people in charge of AVFC and the team, actually have footballing brains!

I have a far greater degree of trust in Bruce than I have done some previous managers and, despite my initial doubts, I think Round seems a very good fit in his role. They just need to prove that now.

Even if Downing were twice the player that he currently is, it would still be a joke!Sandie wrote:Transfer silly season is truly upon us. Apparently we're wanting to bring back Downing on loan and wanting to swap MC44 for Brady (leaving our strike force as just Flabby Onegoalayear for the rest of Jan). I swear the press are just trying to troll Villa fans by this point!
