The Daily Mail think that we're still targeting Hernandez, with Kodjia seen as Hull's choice to replace him.

Adomah has rejected a move as he does not want to play in the Championship.

Not sure why he bothered talking to us in that case - no great loss , vital we bring in a creative player and a striker though and we are approaching desperation day

I agree, hopefully we have other targets lined up. We're in the phoney war right now. Just look at Hernandez. It's gone from likely to off to us needing to pay Hull more up front.

Welcome to the site, BTW.

Cheers mate , approaching the stage where we have to pay it I feel - we need Hernandez and if he gets us up he will more than repay his fee - it's a risk but one we have to take for me .

£17million! I suspect some people will be disappointed after the talk of a "world class striker" but I'm sure if this deal comes off the lad will prove more than effective.

I'm one of those who would be disappointed by this signing. When you are told "World Class" you expect it to be someone you've heard of.

I don't think Kodjia was our first choice, that would have been Hernandez. Hernandez isn't world class by a long way, but he's international class and pacy. Dr T was probably guilty of a little bit of over excitement with his "world class" tweet, but at least he was excited! It's good to see an owner wrapped up in the whole Villa for Europe thing.

There's a lot of work to be done behind the scenes, so I hope Dr T can do the calm considered bit behind the scenes, as well as acting as Villa cheerleader.

Like I said in the other thread, there's a hell of a gap between someone who's world class and someone who's had one good season in the Championship. We've spent knocking on for £30million on two strikers who, in Kodjia and McCormack, there's no guarantee would continue to be a success for us in the top flight. Just look at Gestede, he's probably a great striker at FLC level but was found short in the top flight. They'll pay us back if they get the goals that get us up but might well need to be replaced if we're serious about the top flight.

He looks more than capable to me. Fingers crossed.

Kodjia keeps his goal scoring fairly simple. All he appears to need is the supply .... which is still a problem. Our current midfield will not provide enough assists for the proven goal scorers we now have.

Just over 24 hours left to address the problem.

Kodjia looks like he will score if we supply him..........................we have a MASSIVE problem here, we don't have a single proven winger, we have zero width. Adomah changing his mind will hurt us. That signing would have given a bit of balance to our side. God knows how RDM is going to try and set up this team. My biggest fear is that we a load of new players that we are going to have to find a formation for and it was a major reason why we only picked up about 4 points in the first 12 games or so last year. My only hope is that the collective group of players are very decent championship standard with good attitudes and hopefully they are a determined group. I just fear that even at championship level, there will be settled confident well balanced teams that will turn us over.

Its down to RDM steve clarke and Kevin bond now, lets see our management team earn their money, these players can be blended together to make a strong team but it needs good coaching and management.

I really hope our lack of width is addressed in the remaining 24 hours of the window.
