It's a shame for Tshibola, but having seen him playing horrendously in a streamed reserve match recently, he's not ready for the first team and he needs to play regularly to get his confidence back.

I think a lot of people will be scratching their heads if he leaves since we have come to use Westwood regularly in front of him and Tish started well. However, I agree with you that if that reserves performance was a true indication of his level it might be the right move.

One does have to scratch their head about it, however, as he performed well enough in a few games under RDM.

I wonder whether losing his mentor Steve Clarke had a negative effect on him mentally?

Quite possibly, I also suspect being so far out of contention may also exert a toll mentally as will the fact that he seems to be quite injury prone.

I keep banging on about Lansbury and when you look at him as a contrast to Tshibola you can see why our midfield is so inefective. Tshibola is a young man full of promise and learning his trade, Lansbury is a talented and seasoned pro who's as hard as nails and has "been there, done it, and got the tee shirt!"

Add to that Tshibola's injury problems, and it's apparent that he was a bad choice for such an important season.

RDM's dubious transfer judgement strikes again.

I remember a few years back that Smithies was seen as someone with strong potential to be a top class keeper. His career seems to have stalled somewhat in the last couple of years (perhaps why he is at QPR rather than a top club) but he does have experience of playing nearly 300 times in lower league English football.

He's okay but nothing special imo.

Gestede to Boro: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/dec/28/middlesbrough-rudy-gestede-aston-villa ?

Are they preparing for an immediate return to the Championship? That would be the third member of last season's Villa squad on their books. Wonder if they fancy Westwood and Flabby too?

The Mail and it's parent paper the Mirror are going with the same story. We might as well sell Gestede, because we are obviously not going to play in a way that will use his specific talent. It's the same as we've said previously about McCormack .... we've bought strikers without once thinking about how we would play them.

I hope Bruce/Round only buy players that will fit our intended style of play.

I think it's a shame Rudi's going as I think he still has something to offer us. Rhodes as a replacement is another expensive striker I'm not convinced will fit in. How about a midfielder?

Yes I like Rudi also, his goals to starts ratio was good, don't know too much about Rhodes, i guess on the positive note at least he is a striker who likes to be in the box and weve not had too many of those over recent years!

Rhodes biggest weakness is his total lack of pace. McCormack is also a slow striker so we need to think about that.

Not Gabby! Transfer speculation 2016/17 - Page 34 3640643743

Unfortunately, Gabby is about as quick as the other two now.

I'd genuinely play RHM before Gabby. He might have a lot to learn, but he's a natural goalscorer.
