Villa have a 13% win ratio from the 130 matches that Ashley Westwood has played in. I wonder whether RDM knows that?

The problem with the Westwood situation is that RDM has given himself no other option. It has to be one of Gardner or Westwood. There's Lyden but maybe he's seen as too inexperienced or too defensive. There's no use in crying over what can't be changed. There is genuinely no compelling alternative. I remember at the start of the summer we were all saying we weren't sure another striker was necessary. We all agreed, however, that a complete re-model of our midfield was essential. In the end we bought what look to be two very good for the level strikers (at a cost of almost £30million) but spent substantially less on two midfielders at least one of whom is injury prone (and another of which has also missed games through injury) whilst losing three experienced midfielders (two of whom seemed liked they were pretty much forced out of the door). That is a big mistake, IMO.

Let's hope we keep Brentford on the back foot for most of the match. If Brentford push us back we could fold again.

I'm pleased that Kodjia scored a cracker, but after he did it's same old Villa. We're supposed to have leaders out there on the pitch, but there's little sign of them. Have we got a trademark on the sit back and let a lesser team dominate syndrome? If we haven't we should have because it's our stock reaction to taking the lead.

RDM need's to earn his money in the dressing room by kicking some lazy complacent arse. We're sleep walking our way to another capitulation unless we grab this game by the scruff of it's neck!
