Re: Rémi Garde: Ex-Aston Villa manager
Journalists have changed their style. They no longer ask questions to get information, they sit down with their editors and write a headline, then they design a question to enable them to write this "invented" article.Sandie wrote:I'm sure the delay has nothing to do with the media jumping the gun: http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-player-im-looking-11100410#ICID=FB-Birm-avfc
For example .... "Would you like to play Champions League football within the next couple of years?" The reply naturally is "It would be good to play Champions League football." Then .... "Would you consider returning to a Dutch club if it mean't playing Champions League football?" Which draws the reply "If such an offer was made in a couple of years time I may consider it." Then the story is published as "Bacuna says that he want's to reurn to Holland in the next two years and play for a top Dutch team in the Champions League." It then looks as though it's Bacuna's dearest wish.
I take everything a journalist writes with a pinch of salt these days.

Re: Rémi Garde: Ex-Aston Villa manager
If we believed the press, Remi Garde would have bid Villa Park 'Au revoir' a week ago. Yet, he is still notionally the manager. In the absence of any official comment from the manager or the club, they're having to make excuses as to how they have got it wrong. I'd not be surprised to see Garde in charge for Chelsea. This prolonged press speculation has been exceptionally unfair on a man who has acted with dignity so far.

Bernstein is also turning his attention to Riley and The Sunday Telegraph can reveal that the former Manchester City chairman has been staggered by the findings from his investigation into the club’s season. As a result, Riley is on the brink of joining chief executive Tom Fox and Hendrik Almstadt, the sporting director, as the latest high-profile casualty.
Riley is responsible for organising and appointing Villa’s scouting network and it is alleged that head European scout Jon Bickers, whose main focus is players in the Bundesliga, has emigrated to Australia. Simon Ward, the regional scouting manager, is studying journalism at university although his remit is to watch players in La Liga and Portugal.
Bernstein has also been stunned to discover that other senior staff have no experience of professional football, with the only exception said to be goalkeeping scout Tony Coton, who was appointed by Garde’s predecessor Tim Sherwood.
Garde’s relationship with Riley has completely broken down and the pair are barely on speaking terms. It is also alleged that Garde was told January targets did not want to move to Villa – only for Garde then to speak to the players directly and discover they had never been contacted.
A couple of days old but missed this first time round. If there's any truth to it there are a few startling things in there especially with regard to what Tom Fox described as 'the best scouting system the club have had'.

Re: Rémi Garde: Ex-Aston Villa manager
I think the title of "Director of recruitment" has gone to Reilly's head. Fox told us that Reilly had hired a "whole new scouting network worldwide" when it appears that Reilly thought all he needed to do was sit at his computer screen and crunch OPTA stats. If there is any truth in Pat Murphy's assertion that Reilly wasn't keen on Moyes, but pushed for Garde because he wanted a manager who could get the best out of the French players that he'd already signed, then his head should have rolled by now.Sandie wrote:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/03/26/aston-villa-ready-to-part-company-with-remi-garde/

Re: Rémi Garde: Ex-Aston Villa manager
It shows how ineffective Remi Garde had become, when news of his departure isn't even the slightest bit surprising. Are we talking to Moyes?Sandie wrote:Garde gone:
