Hourihane would sit deeper than Lansbury, so a I see no reason why they couldn't play as a two in the middle at times, if we could go and then add a left winger then such as Brady then the supply to the wingers would be there as Hourihane and Landsbury both possess extensive passing ranges. The Fact that these two are both out of contract in the summer.....is this finally the bit of luck Villa need to help to finally restore some balance to our team.

I think that both Hourihane and Lansbury are comfortable attacking from midfield. Jedinak would be nailed on for the holding/destroyer role, which he could play comfortably with Hourihane and Lansbury in front of him. We would go from weak and wobbly, to hard as nails with just two signatures.

It all depends on systems. If we're looking at a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1, I can easily see someone like Brady also being sought for a key role. It seems odd to be saying this considering the money we've spent on attacking areas but Kodjia and Adomah are the only players I think we currently have who deserve to start in them.

Good point Sandie, on recent form I would have to agree with you. Brady could be a good addition because Bruce knows how to get the best out of him. He will be expensive though, even though he's not first choice at Norwich. I get the impression a striker will be incoming. Probably Rhodes although I'm not sure that he's a good fit with his lack of pace. Abel Hernandez might be worth revisiting.

The table will not look too encouraging tonight if we lose. By hook or by crook we have to win this! Transfer speculation 2016/17 - Page 39 205019816

Cissokho seemingly poised to join Olympiacos. Can't say he'd be a great loss though it would leave us short of cover at left back.

We don't have a first team, and we have no one on the bench to inspire confidence. I don't suppose it matters how many of our players we ship out, because none of them apart from Kodjia, Chester, Adomah, Baker and Amavi are worth a place going forward.
We thought we already had a big job on when Steve Bruce joined us, but amazingly more of our players have decided to wave the white flag and give up, in what is sadly a recurring Villa theme.
Is there something in the water at BMH that turns men into boys?

We need a concerted effort from Wyness, Round and Bruce this week. They need to be hammering on doors, not making polite and ineffective enquiries. Trouble is none of the three aforementioned individuals is an in your face negotiator. We are stuck with the age old Villa problem of being too nice.
Maybe Dr T should take a front seat at the transfer table. He's got the balls to upset a few apple carts and knock a few walls down.

We've sold Gestede and we've loaned out Cissokho proving that we can do deals. Why do we hang about when it comes to bringing players in. We seem to procrastinate when we should be proactive. Rumours today suggest that Norwich are interested in Lansbury. If we were to miss out on a tailor made player because we can't get our fingers out, I will be furious.
I expect Lansbury to be signed in the next 48 hours by Villa, but I worry about the ability of our management to get the job done.
Hourihane has made it clear that he expects to be leaving Barnsley (if you interpret the subtext to his comments it's just about a suitable deal), and Sheffield Wednesday are the only club linked. Hourihane is another perfect fit for our currently non existent midfield and he's really cheap, yet not a whisper about Villa interest. This is a transfer that could be done in a couple of days if we were managed by actual go getters.
Cairney and Brady are two more of the type of players who our first team desperately need, and yet we are linked with the likes of Guedioura who hasn't scored in two years and has just one assist in the same time period, so he'd fit in well with our current midfielders!
My message to Villa is "stop faffing about, and start doing the jobs you are paid a lot of money to do .... rebuilding AVFC in order to return to the Premier League" !
Each match that comes and goes without a new midfield and a decent striker is another opportunity and another three points thrown away. The players are available if we had the brains to do the deals!

Apart from a rumour about Rhodes it's still very quiet.

I really doubt we'll have anyone in for the Preston game. Hope I'm wrong.

It seems that talk of a transfer for Lansbury to anywhere has gone quiet. Have the interested parties become concerned about this business with his agent?

I still expect us to sign Lansbury, but the Agent (Blackstock) debacle may well have slowed it down. I think Lansbury and Villa are made for each other.
Bamford has just signed for Middlesboro, which frees Rhodes although I'm not over excited about this. He and McCormack both need the same kind of service, so why not keep McCormack involved and bring in a couple of midfield assisters with the money.
